MAYBE DOUBLE ELIMINATION RULES & PROCEDURES
YABA tournament rules and regulations will apply to this event. You must be a YABA member.
There will be 2 divisions, 1 handicap and 1 scratch. Each bowler must select the division in which they desire to bowl. Handicap will be 90% of 185. Bowlers will use M.A.Y.B.E. Tournament average based on 12 games. Bowlers without a Tournament average will use highest sanctioned 2000-2001 league average with a minimum of 12 games. IT WILL BE EACH BOWLER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE VERIFICATION OF AVERAGE. Any bowler unable to provide average verification may bowl in the scratch division only. Failure to use correct average will disqualify score if submitted average is lower. Prize winnings shall be based on the submitted average if it is higher than correct average. Corrections in averages may be permitted up to the completion of the first game. Scholarships will be presented for a minimum of four bowlers in each division.
There will be two levels of bowling. Level 1 will be the qualifying round and Level 2 will be the match play for double elimination.
Level 1: All bowlers will bowl 5 games across ten lanes (Qualifying Round). The top 40% of each division will advance to Level 2. If there is a tie for last place in Level 1, all tied bowlers will advance to Level 2.
Level 2: The first game of match play that a bowler loses, the player will move from the "winners" bracket to the "consolation" bracket. After your second loss, you are eliminated. For the winner of the consolation bracket to win the overall tournament, he/she must defeat the winner of the winners bracket twice. A bowler who receives a "bye" does not bowl unopposed. They wait until the next match assigned to them.
All ties will be decided on a two frame (9th and 10th) roll-off. Handicap in such a roll-off will be prorated.
All scholarship dollars will be distributed in accordance with the PCA’s Scholarship Policy.
Late bowlers will receive a zero for all frames missed. A frame will be considered missed when a bowler is not at his/her assigned lane ready to bowl.
All bowlers must check in at least 30 minutes prior to squad time. Entries close 15 minutes prior to the start of the squad or when lane availability has been maximized.
You must send entry fee and average verification with entry form. No entry will be accepted without fees accompanying the form. Returned checks will disqualify the bowler from all awards and result in a $25 service fee.
The Directors reserve the right to correct any mistakes in averages, handicap or scores. All protests must be made within 72 hours, in writing, to the MAYBE Directors. Protests will be settled by the MAYBE Directors.
Bowlers may not bowl in offensive clothing. Hats will not be permitted during this event. Tee Shirts and jeans will be allowed as long as they don’t have offensive language or graphics and the are no holes in the jeans.
